Are Disney Withdrawals Real?

Anything you crave or desire daily is considered an addiction. Once you take that thing away, you go through a withdrawal meaning you still crave and desire that thing but you cannot have it. We go through our daily lives working hard for money in hopes that we'll have enough to go on a trip to Walt Disney World or Disneyland. We try to calm our addiction with Disney music, artwork and movies but this only feeds our addiction even more when we hear the music and see the castle at the beginning of every Disney flick.

So yes, Disney withdrawals are very real.

Why do we desire to visit this place every year? For me, it's not the waiting in lines or the heat or the big crowds or rude people. No, it's the Walt Disney vision that I enjoy. He wanted a place where kids and adults could both have fun. A place where an adult can be a kid again and a kid can be whatever he or she desires.

It's walking right down the middle of Main Street USA with a view of that glorious castle while joyous music dances in your ears and the scent of fresh baked cookies fill your nose. It's being together with your friends and family without a care in the world but just enjoying each others presence and making wonderful memories together. In a busy world, uniting at Disney makes one feel close again to their siblings, if only for a few days. We want things to be perfect in an imperfect world. No, Disney is not perfect but it's our desire to want things to be, in a world that is true fantasy.

Walt Disney was an innovator and always creating something unique that had never been done before. He began his career by creating a series of Alice short films which combined video with cartoon animations.

It was at that young age that made him stand out from anyone else. He teamed up with Ub Iwerks who is the man who helped create Mickey Mouse after Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was stolen.

What separated Mickey from other cartoons was his personality that was portrayed throughout his cartoons. This was a character with human emotions that you actual believed was real. These personalities carried over to Disney's first feature length cartoon Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937.

Going to Disney every year or every other year is an escape from reality. It's a way to remove yourself from the daily grind of work and relax with friends and family. A place to all be together to laugh and have a great time.

I only started visiting Walt Disney World back in 2013 when my friend John suggested we take a trip there for 8 days. Being the first time I paid for this trip out of pocket and not my parents, I really appreciated Walt Disney's vision. It was a plus that I was now a photographer and able to capture all of the things that make this place special. I returned in 2014 and 2015 to feed my addiction. I won't be returning until possibly next year but am currently feeding my addiction with Disney movies, music and artwork. Yes, Disney withdrawals are absolutely real and I cannot wait to walk right down the middle of Main Street USA again.
